Jennifer told me to push record on the camera and had a surprise for me. This is what it was. Happy Halloween!

HALLOWEEN 2008
Luke was a giraffe for his first halloween. He loved it. We went to a friends house with friends and their little ones. Costumes for the kids consisted of a giraffe, monkey, butterfly, princess, superman and a spider. Luke thoroughly enjoyed it.
The monkey and giraffe having a safari get-together.

The moms with the kids. The monkey's mom was dressed as a big banana.

The spider in the middle was already passed out by picture time.

PawPaw and JuJu put in a pool for their first grandkid and the grandkids to come. Luke loved it and I'm sure will love it like crazy in years to come. Here are some highlights.

It was Oct. 12, so it was a little chilly inside the pool. Outside was great.

What a mom! Jennifer is making Christmas stockings for the three of us. She started with Luke's. She spent a lot of time on it...all hand stitched and its awesome! You can see his name on the left side of the stocking. Click to enlarge.

This is Brett and Crystal Murphey's little girl Ellie. Luke had a blast with her while they were in town from Houston!

Playing with mommy while she does the laundry

He likes to be dropped from high in the air toward someone underneath him. He can't get enough and one day he'll be saying "more, more!"

We're running in the eight mile "Turkey Trot" in downtown Dallas on Thanksgiving day this year. This is everyone training. Even the dogs go along. The one on top gets tired half way through. As you can tell, Luke loves his jogging stroller. Click on the pic to get a close up of him.

Luke loves crawling everywhere. Sometimes he doesn't know when to stop though. Here he is stuck.

With Ryan and Sarah Hughes. He (and we) had a great time while visiting them in Abilene. He especially loved their dog Barley who enjoyed Luke's face.

Pulling up now and dreaming of what he's going to do outside when he can walk and run.

Jennifer was feeding him some carrots when he sneezed right as she put the spoon in his mouth. If you click on the picture and look close you can see his top teeth.

After the carrot ordeal, Jenn made a bath for him. She undressed him, put him on the floor of the bathroom, went to get a towel and when she came back, this is what she saw. So then she ran to get the camera, and luckily he stayed that way.

I think he could sense where his toys were

Luke is now going to a preschool at our church called "Little Acorns". It's Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-2. Pretty much the only time he'll be going is when Jenn and I both work on one of those days or I've had a rough night at the station and need some sleep. It was sad for me and Jenn just to drop him off for five hours. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when he actually goes to school for a full day, five days a week.
He definitely seemed excited to be going!

With his first teacher. Like always he doesn't mind strangers. He went right to her and seemed comfortable.

I plopped him on the ground and he went straight to playing.

This kid was crying bloody murder and Luke looked at him like "Dude, what's the deal? We have toys to put in our mouths--this is awesome!"

Playing with one of his new friends.

I finally had to tell him bye and he didn't even notice(which I'm actually happy about)

Luke's gone mobile!! He started crawling four days ago. Life has changed forever!!

We finally took Luke to get his first haircut. I was trying to get his hair a little shorter, Jennifer didn't want it cut at all, so we compromised and trimmed it about an inch. It went great. I got my haircut and while that was going on Luke fell asleep--perfect timing! He woke up right at the end of it, so we found out that it was much better for him to stay asleep right now during haircuts. He kept moving his head and trying to grab the comb and scissors---he's very curious.
I promise we didn't drug him!

The barber couldn't believe she was giving a full haircut to a six month old.

Feeling about the same way I feel about Prunes. Ugh

Prune mustache.
The pool construction is underway at the Speck house. This is Luke wetting down the concrete with his pawpaw.

With Uncle Mike. See where the curls come from?

"Since I can't stick both feet in my mouth, which I try all the time, lets stick one in your mouth, Mommy!"

Getting on our first plane ride with him Aug 8. He did great. It was much better getting
somewhere with him in one hour than driving and it taking 7 or 8 hours.

Swimming with PawPaw. He loves the water splashing towards him!

His first pictures with the big fire truck. All of this didn't interest him so much this time, but I have a feeling it will one day.
Hot momma on the Engine!

His cousins Drake and Alexander came and visited for a couple of days. They were great with Luke and he loved them--they made him laugh all day long. These pictures really make him look like a little boy and not a baby anymore

Bath time fun with mommy!

He's so close to crawling. He's pushing up and tucking his legs and getting up on his knees, but all that actually pushes him backward. He was on the floor playing and I looked up and this is what I found---he had pushed himself backward under our entertainment center

Luke was constipated last week(I know--t.m.i.), so the Doctor told us to give him some water. This is his first experience with water---it cracked him up for some reason(and got rid of the constipation)Bonus!

Jennifer caught me asleep with Luke the other day after a long night at the station(2nd pic). The first pic was on the blog six months ago after a long night of staying up with Luke. Just liked seeing the comparison

Just before bath time! Luke loves being naked! I've heard all boys do, so I'm not too worried about him becoming a streaker in the future.
